A Rose-coloured Wedding
All those who met Marta know that she is full of ideas, excitement and huge optimism. Since she is someone who sees the world through rose-coloured glasses, when it came to her wedding she obviously went for a “rose-coloured” one! A mix & match of feelings, memories and symbols with a special hunger for fun.
Marta and Dario come from two nearby villages, in the Pisa area: they met each other in 2010 as they had some friends in common and it took them a while before they had a spark. Day by day, they slowly started seeing each other alone and more often, and a friendship finally turned into love. Although it might sound odd, they officially became a couple when Dario decided to give Marta a Hello Kitty toy, the most famous pink kitty in the world…that he totally despises!
7 years after that small yet romantic gesture that marked an important milestone of their love story, Dario proposed to Marta on her birthday, going on his knees and with a ring in his hands, in the same place where they first kissed.

Soon, they started planning for their Big Day, which had to be full of quotes and symbols from their love story, because – as they told us – they wanted every single thing to have a meaning.
And so they did. They chose to get married on 7th October 2017 as they had been together for 7 years, a date that also coincides with the wedding anniversary of Dario’s parents. Location-wise, they picked S. Martino Ulmiano church, where Marta’s parents got married, close to where they live… where everything started.
It was early January when they came to visit us at Valle di Badia and they had already seen several interesting locations already. However, the fact of having an entire hamlet for themselves totally got them, as it had that unique charm, different from everything else they saw.
With the precious help of their family and friends, Marta and Dario delegated a task to everyone, setting their imagination completely free, especially if one sees the world through rose-coloured glasses!
The arrival of the bride was unconventional and fun as Marta wore her shiny pink dress, getting off a tractor driven by her father. The music playlist for the church included some of the couple’s favourite soundtracks. A very special ring bearer brought the wedding bands: Leone, their kitten, who’s been with them since they met (it was October 2010 when they got it – pay attention to all the recurrent dates!).
During the ceremony, the bride sung for her groom, while outside the church there was Hello Kitty – their personal Cupid – waiting for them to throw the rice and let white and pink balloons fly towards the sky. After the ceremony, the couple got on a huge Limousine (certainly more comfy than the tractor) where they had their first toast and selfie picture together.
In the meantime, at the hamlet, there was a splendid outdoor aperitif waiting for them, with the perfect weather to enjoy the gardens too. Here as well, the Hello Kitty vibes completely invaded the location, with pink, white and black décor, a white-hearted wedding seating chart and frames and posters of their favourite movies.
The centrepieces stood out on the black tablecloths, decorated with mirrors and crystals designed by Marta herself, while lovely cake-shaped bubble tubes worked as seat markers.
As the cocktail and the dinner went, time flew by with games, poems and videos. If this does not sound exciting enough, there was a real flash mob too prepared by the couple’s friends: everyone wore neon t-shirts and Dario, to surprise Marta, joined the dance.
Finally, the cake cutting took place, enhanced by the marvellous fireworks. At the end of this incredible evening, Marta sung the song “Adagio” by Lara Fabian to remember all the loved ones who couldn’t be there. Then the music faded, and only the couple and the closest friends continued to drink and chat under the stunning pergola until 4am.
“What was the most exciting moment?” we asked. “Surely it was after we exchanged our rings, when Marta sung “Io che amo solo te” … everyone cried!” – replied Dario.
“What would you do again?” – “We would surely book the apartments at Valle di Badia, for both us and our friends. It was perfect waking up in the peace and silent of this place, having breakfast together and taking loads of selfies!”
“…and what would you not do again?” – “If we could go back, we would eat the starter and the cake: we were so busy we didn’t manage to taste either of them!“
